Our Story
Founder Jodi Roberts is an artist and creator with a lifelong love for jewelry. Inspired by childhood visits to her family’s Manhattan Diamond District shop, she studied metal smithing in college and worked as a metal smith in New York City before launching her first handmade jewelry line in 1995.
Over the years, she's explored many creative pursuits, including graphic design, mural painting, and teaching workshops. In 2022, a profound experience with a medium reconnected her with her father who had recently passed and reignited a passion for jewelry.
With decades of industry experience behind her, she poured her heart into research and creation of the perfect line to offer. Now, Jodi is proud to introduce Properly Kate Jewelry. Named after her daughter, our jewelry features high-quality, gold-plated stainless steel (or sterling silver) pieces designed for everyday wear, many of which are waterproof and tarnish-resistant. She has merged expert craftsmanship with contemporary design to bring you pieces that are timeless, versatile, and effortless.

Our Jewelry
All of our jewelry is crafted from either gold-plated stainless steel, gold-plated sterling silver, or sterling silver. We prefer stainless steel over brass for the base layer because it's waterproof, tarnish-resistant, hypoallergenic, sustainably sourced, and won't cause skin discoloration. You get the luxurious look of gold without the hefty price tag, and it’s built to last for years. Sterling silver is also hypoallergenic, durable, and while it requires a bit more care, it is undeniably beautiful.
